Mrs Palmers COMP Surfboard Wax for Cool Water uses what Mrs Palmers refers to as TRACTION 3000 - an additive for surfboard wax that gives it its true traction capabilities to help you stick to your board. It's also intended to last throughout your surf so you aren't having to regularly re-wax.

There's a variety of surf wax options, even in Mrs Palmers range. The biggest difference between different types of wax is their suitability to particular temperatures. You'll want stiffer wax for warmer conditions as the wax will melt easier in these conditions. If you tried to use the same wax in cold conditions the wax wouldn't stick to your board and you'd need something more malleable.
